Is there a sweetener with no aftertaste?

No sweetener tastes like nothing, sugar included. What people mean by aftertaste is a taste that is not sugar's, or sweetness that stays after sugar's would have gone. The closest thing to no aftertaste is a sweetness that arrives and leaves like sugar does.

Why do sweeteners have an aftertaste at all?

Two reasons. Some trigger bitter receptors as well as sweet ones, which is where stevia's licorice note and sucralose's chemical note come from for many people. And most of them build and fade more slowly than sugar, so the sweetness feels late and then lingers. Linger is the part people call aftertaste most often.

Which common sweeteners have the least aftertaste?

It depends on the taster and the level, but the usual ranking people report is: sugar alcohols like erythritol taste clean but need to be used in quantity and can cool the mouth; allulose is clean but only about seventy percent as sweet as sugar; monk fruit is cleaner than stevia for most people but carries a fruity note; newer stevia glycosides such as Reb M are cleaner than the old ones. None of them matches sugar's timing.

What gets closest to sugar?

A protein built to taste like it. TomorrowSweet™ is brazzein, the sweet protein from the oubli fruit, reimagined so its sweetness arrives up front and does not linger. Version 1.9 is 90% identical to sugar in taste, with no bitterness and nothing to mask.

Is a protein sweetener different in the body?

Yes. Your body digests TomorrowSweet™ down to amino acids like any other protein, with no glucose response, no insulin response, and no microbiome effects. It is about a thousand times sweeter than sugar, used in milligrams, and calorie-free in use.

Can I taste it before I decide?

Brands and formulators can request a sample. Anyone can taste it in LION, the hydration drink sweetened with TomorrowSweet™ that launched nationally at Walmart.

The best aftertaste is sugar's: none you notice.

Sweetness that arrives fast and leaves clean is what sugar taught everyone to expect. TomorrowSweet™ is brazzein reimagined to do exactly that: the same natural amino acids, rebuilt for better taste.
